A complaint that can be checked
A date, broadcaster and clear description help a complaint enter the process and receive an answer.
The form prepares a message for email. A complaint is recorded when it reaches the Agency.
Before you submit a complaint
A complaint concerns programme content, advertising or another matter within the Agency’s remit. First check whether the issue is a legal obligation rather than an editorial choice.
The Agency does not decide what a media outlet publishes. It decides whether published content breached a rule of law or a licence condition.
Complaint form
Complete the details as precisely as possible. A complaint without a date, broadcaster and description is harder to verify. Required fields are marked with an asterisk.
Common questions
The form helps ensure that a case includes the necessary details. You may send an ordinary message, but we will ask you to provide the missing information.
The duration depends on the matter, the availability of information and the rights of parties to respond. Deadlines follow the law, and you are informed about the progress.
Include the date, time and description. If you have a recording or other evidence, attach it to the message. The Agency may request further information from the broadcaster.
A complaint may include a request to protect your identity, but full anonymity can make verification and notification harder. Data protection is decided under the law.
